How do I start?

  1. Request the IAM profiles DEVOPS NBGIDP - Claude Code Sandbox and GCP AI <your-division> Team through the NBG IAM portal.
  2. Download Sandbox Connect for your computer: Windows x64 Windows ARM macOS Linux
  3. Install it and sign in with your NBG account when your browser opens (first time only).
  4. Click Connect — a terminal opens on your personal VM.

Your devices

You're set — you connect to your VM from the SC app on your laptop.

Sandbox Connect

A personal cloud Linux VM with Claude Code pre-installed, reached through a small desktop app. Your laptop is the keyboard; nothing else.

What is it?

A Linux VM in NBG’s cloud, one per user, pre-loaded with Claude Code, Docker, Node + pnpm, Python via uv, Playwright, and Git.

You reach it through Sandbox Connect — a small app that lives in your menu bar. One click connects you to your VM, files move by drag-and-drop, and what you build on the VM opens in your laptop’s browser as if it ran locally. The technical plumbing is handled for you.

Why?

So bank data never touches your laptop. Files live on the VM, and prompts travel straight from the VM to Claude inside NBG’s own cloud — never through your machine.

Your laptop is a thin client: keystrokes in, pixels out. Lost or stolen laptop = nothing on disk + one click to revoke access.

When to use it?

Use the Sandbox for

  • NBG code or customer data
  • Internal docs, configs
  • Anything you’d hesitate to paste into a public chatbot

Skip it for

  • Public OSS / hackathon / personal projects
  • Learning Claude on throwaway examples

What’s logged?

Captured

  • Logins, device enrollment, VM lifecycle
  • Files you upload via File Manager (security-scanned)

Not captured

  • Your prompts and Claude’s responses
  • Your SSH keys, files you create inside the VM

Three things newcomers misunderstand

  1. The portal works from home — the VM does not. VM lives in NBG’s private network. You need NBG VPN, even though login worked without it.
  2. The tray icon hides behind the notch. It’s a navy “SC” tile in the menu bar; if you can’t see it, quit Slack or another menu-bar app and look again.
  3. You’re not on Anthropic’s public API. Claude routes through Vertex AI in NBG’s GCP tenant. Same model, different billing and audit path.
