Daily use

After the one-time setup, daily life is dull in the good way.

Start work

  1. Connect to NBG VPN if you’re not on the office network.
  2. Click the SC menu-bar icon → Connect.
  3. Apple Terminal opens on the VM. Type claude.

That’s it. The seven-step Connect sequence takes ~10s once the VM is provisioned.

File transfer — File Manager

Click SC → File Manager. Two panes: Local (your Mac) and Remote (your VM). Drag between them or use the arrow buttons.

Use it for: files on your Mac that need to be on the VM (a CSV, a screenshot), or pulling a VM-generated report back to your Mac.

Don’t use it for: files in a git repo (just git clone on the VM — faster, no DLP entry), or anything you can have Claude generate VM-side.

Every upload through File Manager is DLP-scanned and logged. Don't drag-and-drop casually — it's an auditable channel.

Port forwarding

Start a dev server on the VM at port 3000 — it’s at http://127.0.0.1:3000 on your Mac within a second. No configuration.

Click SC → Ports to see what’s forwarded. Conflict status means your Mac is already using that port — click Free port to resolve. Up to 16 ports forwarded at once.

Forwarded ports are bound to 127.0.0.1 only — a colleague on the same Wi-Fi cannot see your dev server.

Stop work

Click SC → Quit at end of day, or just lock the screen. The VM keeps running until you next Connect — files persist.

Screenshot Drop

The menu shows a Screenshot Drop item the official guide doesn’t explain. Camera icon, drag-target behaviour — appears to let you drop a screenshot to a specific path on the VM.

Investigate Screenshot Drop on next office visit.
